Under 15s - change of training night to a Tuesday at 6pm. This has been done due to the fact that Merthyr Schools U15s train on the same night as us and we have quite a few players that should feature in the schools setup. By changing our night, we are able to support those players that want to get involved in the schools squad - which will help us as a squad at Ynysowen.
We train 6pm on Tuesday, the schools train at 5pm on a Wednesday at Pen-Y-Dre High School. Put in the effort boys - and you will get the reward. Next year the Blues North U16s beckons - and the schools squad is the way into that!

A performance that you should all be proud off... to put 40 points on merthyr ..... everyone put a huge effort.. with merthyr make change after change.. there had no answer to the ynysowen forwards at the break down.. Shelby, Chad and man of the match Joe Morgan turning the ball over at will. Tom and Kerion tackling everything that moved. Ellis and Rhys closing the midfield down giving merthyr nowhere to go. Nathan, Kian, Theo and Daniel all played their part in a great win and more important a great performance...... EXCELLENT DISPLAY

A BIG THANKS TO ALL WHO PLAYED ON SUNDAY IN THE ABERCYNON TOURNAMENT, IT WAS HARD LINES, WE BEAT ABERCWMBOI, WITH SOME EXCELLENT RUGBY PLAYED BY BOTH TEAMS, YNYS SCORED THE ONLY TRY OF THE GAME THROUGH KERION KINSEY, BUT IT WAS THE DEFENCIVE WORK THROUGH OUT THE GAME BY EVERYONE THAT KEPT ABERCWMBOI AT BAY IT WAS A CREITED TO ALL THE PLAYERS. IN THE SECOND GAME YNYS GAVE THE HOME SIDE TOO MUCH RESPECT AND THEY TOOK A TWO TRY LEAD INTO HALF TIME. DURING THE HALF TIME BREAK YNYSOWEN HAD A GOOD TALKING ABOUT WHAT WAS NEEDED AND INDEED THE STEPPED UP AND SCORED JUST AFTER THE KICK OFF THROUGH CHAD THOMAS, BUT ABERCYNON HELD OUT TO WIN. This years tour turned out to be bigger and better than ever . Great to see so many people dressed up on sat night and to top it all the boys played really well on sunday . Big thanks to Deb & Pikey for organising the tour , Gareth for sorting out the game in Narberth and Paul of Phoenix Financial Solutions for sponsoring the hoodies they looked great. Don't forget presentation night its on sat 7th may all players are to wear blue shirt and tie . Extra ties have been ordered should have them soon will let you know on the price when we get them.

Well done to the U14s for a fantastic effort on Sunday against Tonyrefail. As the new coach - assisting Barrie and Ryan - I was well impressed with the attitude of every player. As Barrie, Dai and myself said on Sunday - if it wasn't for a few lapses in concentration the score would have been closer - and we may even have snuck a victory. In my book, it wasn't about the result - the effort put in was great to watch and I was mightily impressed. Each and every player left the field exhausted - but could still have played for another 10 minutes. You finished the game the stronger team - well done boys! I will get to know all of the players over the next few sessions but you are a team to be reckoned with. See you all on Wednesdays at 6pm sharp!
