The score does not reflect how close this game was, with Shelby Davies captain for Ynysowen leading from the front and man of the match Logon McNamara making some excellent tackle’s , Kieron Kinsey producing some magic to score Ynysowen’s try converted by Chad Thomas, Blackwood were the better side on the day and dissevered the win

Blackwood 28 v Ynysowen 19
The boys played away on Sunday to Blackwood, both sides displayed some exciting rugby it was good to see the ball being put through the hands of the young Ynysowen team which resulted in the first try coming from Tom Roberts, Blackwood came back at Ynys and soon levelled the scores. Liam Munkley then scored Ynysowen’s second with a fine run to score in the corner, he also scored third try which came from a good hands through the back, Debuts were given to Alex Davies and Jake Hawkins and with Liam Newman and Zak hurly stepping up from the under 10’s it was a great performance pity about the result. Well done boys. It was also good to listen to the comments from the parents on the side line saying how both teams have come on and grown over the past year.

Under 13's
Ynysowen 12 v RTB 33
Ynysowen entertained RTB Ebbw Vale this weekend and played some exciting rugby, from the of Ynys forward took the game to the visitor Lucus Murphy scoring to try with some help from Lewis Tucker, RTB replied with some excellent forward play, Connor Kinsey and Adam Pyke attacked well with ample support from Jack George, with the home side going one man down this gave RTB the momentum to pull away and take the victory.

Ynysowen 34 v Tonyrefail 22
Ynysowen carried there good form on away from home, with Lucas Murphy the pick of the bunch, the home side carried a lead into have time but a team talk at the break gave Ynys, the momentum to pick up their game further try’s came from Lewis Robinson, Lloyd Nolan and Lewis Tucker, a mention must go to Karl Davies a star in the making.

Ynysowen 64 v RTB Ebbw Vale 10
Ynysowen welcomed there visitors and from the off never gave a inch, Tom Roberts scoring 4, Morgan Collins, Liam Munkly, Corry Bates all scoring two each, with several plays coming up from the under 10 Liam Newman, Zac Hurly and Connor Davies all deserving man of the match award, Steve Hodkinson and Connor Lee kept RTB on the back foot throughout the game.

Ynysowen 0 v RTB Ebbw Vale 28
Daniel Murtgh was captain for ynysowen, although Ynys lost there made RTB work for every score; some excellent tackle from Tom Wilkshire and Callum Dutton kept the visitor from score further.

A mixed team of 9s and 10s travelled to mountain ash and caim up against a much bigger and stronger team, Ynysowen gave debuts to Shelby Davies and Nathan Sawday both giving there all, Jack Harris and Chad Thomas also doing there all in defence.

Ynysowen 45 v Treharris 10
YNYSOWEN TAKE THE SPOILS IN THIS LOCAL DERBY
Following on from last week’s win Ynysowen took the game to Treharris, Lucas Murphy opened the scoring, Lewis tucker was next on the score board with a galloping try brushing defenders aside. Ynysowen started to up the pace now and Liam Tong, Lewis Robson, Jack George, Lucas Murphy were at the heart of some devastating rucking, Tucker broke free from a maul to score his 2nd try. Murphy was in support of a barnstorming run by Adam Pyke which enabled Murphy to score his 2nd try.

The next person on the score sheet was Lewis Robson. The Ynysowen pack won a ball against the head which allowed Murphy to break blind and score under the posts. Lucas Murphy was on the score board again for his 3rd try and now treharris were having great difficulty containing him, his pace and sheer size he was almost unstoppable. Treharris then scored late on to make the half time score 30 v 5.

Treharris changed their tactics trying to keep the ball away from the forwards, kicking away possession deep into the Ynysowen half, Pyke at full back took every high ball they threw at him, the Ynysowen backs were now starting to perform with Lloyd Nolan and Lewis Robertson formed an excellent partnership in the centre, Jack George is making the number 9 position his own with some strong runs. The final score was ynysowen 45-10 treharris and the all the boys should be proud of their performance.

Ynysowen played a strong match against excellent opponents and despite their depleted side, Tom Wiltshire and Logan McNamara managed to defend and attack with power the try scorer was Kerion Kinsey and Man of the Match went to Tom Wiltshire.

The confidence of all players shows by this high scoring match,Morgan Collins lead the way with Jack Harris following him all the way try came thick and fast, strong running from Steve Hodkinson and Liam Evans, try came from Munkly, Bates, Roberts, Collins and Harris. Man of the match went to Jack Harris.
